Convicted dopers Justin Gatlin and Tyson Gay go 1-2 in the Lausanne Diamond League Meet. 9.79, 9.93

Just 1-year after testing positive for PED’s, American sprinter Tyson Gay runs 9.93 in his season opener in Lausanne. With such an impressive opener, there was only one athlete who could challenge Gay, and that was Justin Gatlin (convicted doper), who crossed the line in a near world-leading time of 9.79

This was an impressive return for Gay that begs the question, “Was 1-year a long enough suspension?” Gay returned to competition an entire year early because of his willingness to cooperate with doping officials and it seems like he’s hardly lost a step.

Justin Gatlin has spent the last year gaining ground on the Jamaican sprinters and it seems like he’s nearly caught up. A 9.79 is an impressive showing and proves that his 32 years of age isn’t slowing him down.

As Gay and Gatlin continue to heat up we can only hope to catch a showdown between the on-fire Americans and their Jamaican Rivals.
